Introduction

English for Police is designed to develop the practical English language skills required by police officers and law enforcement personnel when communicating with the public, colleagues, emergency services, and international visitors. The course focuses on everyday operational situations, improving participants' confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing within policing environments.

This five-day programme combines professional policing terminology with realistic scenarios such as responding to incidents, conducting interviews, giving directions, reporting crimes, managing public safety, and preparing basic reports. Through practical exercises and role-play activities, participants will strengthen their ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and accurately in English during operational duties.

Objectives

1. Communicate confidently in English during routine police duties and public interactions.
2. Use appropriate policing terminology when responding to incidents, questioning individuals, and providing assistance.
3. Improve listening and speaking skills for emergency situations, patrol operations, and radio communications.
4. Read and complete basic police documents, reports, and incident records using clear professional English.
5. Apply effective communication techniques when dealing with victims, witnesses, suspects, and international visitors.
